11/52 – The Artist

Take a pen and draw a sword…

This week’s tune addresses the disrespect of the artist on the professional stage. There’s a lot to be said on that subject, but not here.

I actually had to record this song twice, because when I listened back the first time I was extremely unhappy with how it had turned out, and opted to erase the whole thing and start from scratch. This one is about a dozen times tighter, and I’m happy with it. I hope you are too.

Lacking a drumset here, I hammered the mandolin bridge in the place of a kick drum, and played the djembe with brushes in the place of a snare. I think it sounds fairly convincing, surprisingly…
