13/52 – Rain Dogs

Traditional style melodies, stream-of-conciousness lyrics, upbeat 5/4-6/4 rhythm. This song is a little late because I kept changing my mind about what kind of song I wanted to make this week. When a dog goes out in the rain, it washes away the scent and he might not be able to find his way back home.

They’re lost like dogs after the rain,
Tearing the ladders down and putting up snakes;
But we will watch as the pipes burst below our feet,
And we’ll run as the rain fills the street.
“Will you come, won’t you babe, come home with me.”
They’re taking the bus in circles again,
To and from the same place every morning;
But we will take only the oldest highways,
The ones that still can take us somewhere.
“Will you come, won’t you babe, come home with me.”
We will watch as the pipes burst below our feet,
And I have found the best way to deal with the heat.
